AMHR CONTENT

Editorial Policy

AMHR Content is the story‑driven content strategy studio of Amanda M. Hoyer. We publish original reporting, practical explainers, and community stories across our channels, including the Bread & Butter newsletter project. This policy explains how we choose, create, label, and correct content—and how brands and readers can work with us.

Editorial Independence & Ethics
  • Decisions about what we cover and recommend are made by AMHR Content. Partnerships, sponsorships, and affiliate programs do not determine our opinions.
  • We do not sell positive coverage or accept payment in exchange for a review outcome.
  • We disclose any relevant relationships, gifts, or travel support that could present a conflict of interest.
  • When in doubt, we recuse ourselves from coverage that cannot be fairly executed.
Product Reviews & Testing Standards
  • How we choose products
    • We prioritize usefulness for homeowners, renters, buyers, and home‑industry pros. We look at safety, durability, value, customer support, and verified performance data.
  • Access to products
    • We may: (a) buy items at retail, (b) accept short‑term loans, or (c) accept samples. Acceptance never guarantees coverage.
    • Samples/loaners may be returned, donated, or retained for long‑term testing at our discretion. If retention is a condition of receipt, we will disclose.
  • What testing looks like
    • Hands‑on use for a realistic period; inspection of materials/build quality; review of manuals, certification and safety data; and, where applicable, comparisons to category benchmarks.
    • We avoid fragile “lab theater.” If an objective test is required (e.g., energy use), we’ll note the method and limitations.
  • Ratings & recommendations
    • We typically use clear verdicts such as Recommended, Consider with Caveats, or Skip instead of star ratings. We explain why in plain language.
  • Access & timing
    • Pre‑release access does not guarantee publication at launch. We publish when testing is complete and we have something useful to say.
User‑Generated Content (UGC)
  • Community submissions
    • We welcome stories, tips, photos, and videos from our community. By submitting, you affirm you own the content and grant AMHR Content a non‑exclusive license to edit and publish it across our channels with attribution.
    • If your submission includes people, you are responsible for obtaining permissions and releases.
  • Brand‑provided UGC
    • If a brand supplies UGC (e.g., project photos, testimonials), we label the source and verify claims where feasible. Branded UGC is not editorial unless we state otherwise.
  • Attribution & edits
    • We may edit for clarity, length, and house style without changing meaning. We credit creators visibly.
Affiliate Links, Sponsorships & Paid Partnerships
  • Affiliate disclosure
    • Some links may be affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate participation does not influence our coverage.
    • We follow the FTC Endorsement Guides. Disclosures appear near the endorsement or product mention. Learn more: ftc.gov (Endorsement Guides).
  • Sponsored content
    • Sponsored work is labeled clearly as “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership,” or “Partner Feature.” Sponsors may provide background and fact resources, but AMHR Content retains final editorial control unless the piece is explicitly an advertorial, which will be labeled.
  • Gifted products & loans
    • We disclose if products were provided for review/long‑term testing or if travel/lodging was covered.
No Promise of Coverage

We’re pitch‑friendly, but we never guarantee coverage—paid or unpaid. We decline pay‑to‑play arrangements and “positive review” contracts.

Use of AI Tools
  • We may use AI tools for research organization, transcription cleanup, outlines, or grammar checks. A human (Amanda) reports, verifies, writes, and/or edits every published piece.
  • We do not publish fully automated content. All facts are verified against primary sources where possible.
Corrections, Updates & Fact‑Checking
  • If we get something wrong, we fix it. Substantive corrections are noted with an Update/Correction timestamp and a brief explanation of what changed.
  • Minor edits (style, typos) may be updated silently.
  • To request a correction: SUBJECT: CORRECTION with the URL, the issue, and supporting documentation.
Privacy & Data Handling
  • We honor embargoes and off‑the‑record agreements explicitly agreed upon in writing.
  • We do not publish private personally identifiable information obtained through non‑consensual means.
  • For site‑wide privacy (cookies, analytics, data requests), please see our Privacy Policy.
Working With Us (Brands & PR)
  • How to pitch
    • Email: theboss@amandahoyer.com with PITCH:…
    • Include: product/service name, what problem it solves, target user, pricing/availability, safety or compliance data, and high‑res imagery with usage rights.
    • Launches: share dates, embargo details, and relevant spokesperson availability.
  • Partnership options
    • Sponsored explainers, partner feature stories, long‑term testing programs, newsletter placements, and UGC co‑creations.
    • We will propose deliverables, timelines, and clear labeling that meet FTC guidelines and our house standards.
  • Events & travel
    • We may attend events for reporting. If travel or lodging is covered, we disclose. Coverage remains at our editorial discretion.
Visuals, Accessibility & Rights
  • We prioritize original imagery and properly licensed assets. Stock or brand assets are labeled as such.
  • We write meaningful alt text and captions for accessibility where the platform supports it.
  • Do not reuse our original content without written permission.
Community Standards

We moderate comments and community spaces for relevance, civility, and safety. Harassment, discrimination, spam, and misinformation may be removed.

TLDR

We only recommend things we believe are genuinely helpful. We label paid relationships clearly. We fix mistakes. We respect your privacy. And while we love a good pitch, we never promise coverage. That’s it — no BS.
